Il 22enne svedese aveva già conquistato il suo primo titolo iridato dopo aver superato 6.00 metri. Duplantis ha prima saltato 6.06 (record dei campionati) e poi ha fatto alzare l’asticella a 6.21, superandola al secondo tentativo
