Rafa Nadal lascia il Roland Garros. La decisone è arrivata inaspettata ed è dovuta ad un dolore al polso sinistro. "Avevo già problemi giovedì contro Bagnis - spiega lo spagnolo in una conferenza stampa organizzata per l'occasione - ho fatto un'inizione ed ho giocato vincendo, ma poi in serata il dolore è aumentato, non riuscivo più a muovere il polso".

Restando in campo maschile il n.2 del mondo Andy Murray si libera in tre set (6-1, 6-3, 7-6) di Ivo Karlovic, agli ottavi se la vedrà con John Isner. Tra le altre principali teste di serie avanzano anche Milos Raonic (che al prossimo turno affronterà Ramos) e Kei Nishikori (che ha appuntamento con Gasquet).

Agli ottavi di Parigi anche Stan Wawrinka, terza testa di serie. Sul Philippe Chatrier il n.3 del seeding ha superato senza problemi il francese Jeremy Chardy 6-4 6-3 7-5, negli ottavi avrà ora il serbo Viktor Troicki che ha sconfitto il francese Gilles Simon, n.16 del seeding, 6-4 6-2 6-2.
Il punto tra le donne - Ottiene il pass per gli ottavi Garbine Muguruza: sconfitta Yanina Wickmayer, n.54 del ranking Wta, con il punteggio di 6-3, 6-0. La n.4 del mondo al prossimo turno troverà la Kuznetsova, che ha vinto il derby russo con la Pavlyuchenkova.
